Teaching

Why I like teaching

I like teaching because I like to inspire. Inspire to think about language. Inspire to think. Inspire to be inspired. Teaching is not restricted to the class-room. Teaching happens with every interaction. If we let ourselves be inspired by the thoughts of others we can learn.

Current teaching

My current position is a research position. I teach 1 course each year. 2022: Semantics and Pragmatics 2021: Comparative linguistics 2020: Semantics and Pragmatics 2019: Comparative linguistics

Teaching at UBC

At UBC I taught a variety of undergradaute and graduate courses including: Introduction to linguistics Syntax Field-methods Morphology Acquisition of syntax ...
I have taught courses following the “flipped classroom model”. This initiative was in response to a need for a change in teaching methods, given the changing student population as well as the change in the kind of information that is available to students. In this context I have produced a series of videos to accompany my Introduction to linguisitcs course.
