I am currently not accepting any new PhD students. But I have a waitlist.
If you are interested in working with me, contact me and we can figure out a plan.
How I view student supervision
Graduate supervision is, in my view, the most difficult, but also the most rewarding aspect in the life of a professor.
It is difficult because there is no recipe. Every project is different. Every student is different. And so every student requires a different style. One that we have to figure out together.
It is so rewarding because I get to see ideas unfolding, minds being blown away by their own findings. I get to inspire people. And of course, I learn a lot along the way.
One of the things I do is meet with them as a group, usually at my place. I believe that thinking works best in a relaxed environment. Early on, my students at UBC have come up with the name Thesis Anonymous for this group. It reflects the supportive atmosphere of this group.
And I continue this tradition in Barcelona, with my current students.
